Hyde

Hideto Takarai (寶井秀人), more commonly known as Hyde, was born on January 29, 1969, in Wakayama, Japan. He is the vocalist for L`Arc~en~Ciel. Hyde tends to be a very private person and chooses to keep his personal information secret from the public, although he did confirm his birthdate in the interview for the 2002 March issue of Rockin' On Japan. Hyde joined L`Arc~en~Ciel in 1991 after having left the band Jerusalem's Rod where he was a guitarist.

In addition to being the lead singer and primary lyricist of L`Arc~en~Ciel, Hyde has two solo projects - HYDE and VAMPS, his own independent record label called VAMPROSE, and an occasional acting career.

Hyde is married to actress/model Megumi Oishi and is father to one child with her (born 2003).

Tetsu

Tetsu

Tetsuya Ogawa (小川哲学) was born October 3, 1969, at Osaka in Kansai, Japan. He is known professionally as tetsu, and is the leader and bassist of L`Arc~en~Ciel. Tetsu is somewhat renowned in the Japanese music industry for his melodic style of bass playing. He occasionally provides backup vocals and has composed many of the band's songs, notably 'Link', 'READY STEADY GO', 'finale', 'Driver's High', "Stay Away," and 'Pieces'.

In 2001, Tetsu started a solo project under the name 'TETSU69' (the number 69 being his birth year). On November 26, 2006 he changed his solo name to 'tetsu'. He is also a part of the band Creature Creature.

In 2007, Tetsu wed 22-year-old actress Ayana Sakai. As of 2010, Tetsu is going by the name Tetsuya.

Ken

Ken

Ken Kitamura (北村健) was born in Osaka, Japan on November 28, 1968. He is the guitarist of L`Arc~en~Ciel and the leader/guitarist/vocalist of his other band, Sons Of All Pussys (S.O.A.P). He has also released a solo album entitled In Physical.

In 1992, Ken left the Nagoya Institute of Technology, two months before his graduation as an architect major, to join L`Arc~en~Ciel at the request of his childhood friend Tetsu. He has written a wide variety of L`Arc~en~Ciel's music, including "As if in a dream", "Vivid Colors", "Niji", "the Fourth Avenue Cafe", "Shout at the Devil", "Kasou", "Lies and Truth", "Lover Boy", "Lost Heaven", "Twinkle,Twinkle", and "MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM".

Ken has a humorous reputation among fans for consistently smoking during live performances.

Yuki

Yuki

Yukihiro Awaji (淡路幸宏), known professionally as yukihiro, is the drummer and studio mixer for L`Arc~en~Ciel as well as the leader of his other band Acid Android. His nickname within L`Arc~en~Ciel is "Yuki" or "Yukkie", as well as "teacher".

Yukihiro officially joined L`Arc~en~Ciel in 1998, taking over for former drummer, Sakura. Yukihiro has composed an assortment of songs, including "trick", "Cradle", "REVELATION", "New World" and most recently "DRINK IT DOWN". He is also well-known for remixing several works of the band, and released the L`Arc~en~Ciel remix album, "ectomorphed works" in 2000.

Before L`Arc~en~Ciel, he was a member of a number of other Japanese rock bands, including Die in Cries and Zi:Kill.
